B-26 Target Run

A browser game inspired by B-26 Marauder target runs: read the mission brief, fly over a German landscape, dodge flak, and use the Norden-style bombsight to strike assigned military targets.

Interactive context

This is a simplified arcade game, not a mission simulator or historical reconstruction. It uses the Bob Cary project's B-26, flak, target, bomb-load, and Norden bombsight themes to make the mission records easier to imagine. For the history behind those pressures, read the expanded B-26 page or the composite story Fly It or It Will Fly You.

Mission Brief

Operation Target Run

Enemy flak batteries are defending a transport and supply corridor. Your B-26 is carrying a limited bomb load. Hit the assigned military targets as they pass beneath the aircraft.

  • Primary targets: ammunition depot, bridge, factory, city rail yard, and landing ground.
  • Use the Norden-style sight in the upper right to line up the next target.
  • Dodge flak bursts. Too much damage brings the plane down.
  • Score is based on confirmed target hits and remaining aircraft condition.

Mission brief ready.

Controls

Move: Arrow keys or WASD. Drop bomb: Space. Pause: P. Reset: R.

How It Connects to the Research

The real Bob Cary work remains evidence-first: mission reports, crew sheets, family memory, photographs, and open questions. This game is a lightweight way to experience the basic pressures described in those records: flak, formation flying, assigned targets, bomb loads, and the difficulty of getting ordnance on the intended point.
